This week I spent a few minutes catching up with one of our Online Sales Managers, John Sholl! Originally from Tewksbury, Massachusetts, John first got his start in the radio business, working for many of the well known stations in the area. From there, John joined the onDemand Team where he has quickly established himself as an essential member. We are very lucky to have him!
Ashleigh: Tell us about your role and position at Lionbridge onDemand?
John: I am Online Sales Manager for the Goodmancial vertical, a name I created as we go after clients in the Consumer Goods, Manufacturing and Financial industries. I work directly with a few large clients like Parker Hannifin and Bell Helicopter while being a hands on manager to 5 (soon to be 7) members underneath me. I help in the molding of Online Sales Representatives to get them ready to become Managers themselves one day.
Ashleigh: What about Lionbridge onDemand made you want to work here in the first place?
John: The ability to call anyone around the world always intrigued me.
Ashleigh: What is your proudest/ favorite memory at Lionbridge onDemand?
John: Being promoted to Manager.
Ashleigh: Tell us about your first sale!
John: I had a meeting with this guy on a Friday morning and got him squared away with the portal, and since it was a Summer Friday we left at 1 for the day. So I’m home lying in my bed partially falling asleep with the TV on and I hear my email go off which woke me up. I checked it and boom $2,380 sale came through!
Ashleigh: Before working at Lionbridge, what other jobs did you have?
John: I worked at almost half of the radio stations on your dial. Radio 929, Country 102.5, 105.7 WROR, Magic 106.7, Hot 96.9 and 92.5 The River doing promotions and producing with some sales mixed in. Also worked at Enterprise Rent a Car, but I’m trying to erase that from my memory….. We’ll Pick you Up!
Ashleigh: What are your long-term career goals and aspirations?
John: Lead a large team in high level position as a VP or GM of Sales and make large amounts of dough.
Ashleigh: What’s your claim to fame?
John: I was an extra in the movie The Fighter and can see myself in the trailer.
Fun Fact: When convenience stores or any other store claims you cannot use a Debit Card for purchases under $10, it is illegal. Debit Cards are supposed to be treated like cash and you can get that company in trouble for not allowing you to use it.
