Current City: Jamaica Plain
Hometown:  Canterbury NH

School: Emmanuel College

Major: English – Literature and Writing

Minor: Killin’ it

Top Team: The Beers (Baseketball)

Pickup Line: “Hi, my name is Bruce.” It works pretty well.

How to de-stress: Laugh. I find that laughter can be hypnotic. Even if you are at your peek stress levels and feel like you are going to break down laughter can help you lose focus on the stress and start to relax.

Favorite Quote:  “People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff.” – The Dr.

Tell us about your role and position at Lionbridge onDemand?

I am a Senior Online Sales Representative and I like to think of myself as “helping resource” for the GoodManCial vertical team. I handle an account management role, I cold-call in an attempt to source new business for onDemand, I hold training sessions for new hires, I help other reps with questions that might arise, I give advice when people need another opinion on a decision to be made, and I try and keep things in the office light by not taking myself too seriously.

AC: What about Lionbridge onDemand made you want to work here in the first place?

I was a referral hire and I wanted to work here because my friend spoke so highly about the job. He told me that he, “Calls large and small companies to find out if they are global and if they have translation needs. And, if they do, I convince them that I’m a good person to work with and that Lionbridge is the best company to work with.” And he thought that I would “kill it” so he referred me to work here and the rest is history.

AC: What is your proudest/ favorite memory at Lionbridge onDemand?

There are really quite a few, but the best one without needing too much context was when I sold a $50,000+ sale. It helped me realized that I had more potential than I realized, inside and outside of my employment.

AC: Tell us about your first sale?

My first sale was a $194.15 sale with Build-a-Bear. It happened on my 1 month anniversary with Lionbridge onDemand and it was awesome. To have my first sale be with such a well-known company opened my eyes to the possibilities of this sales environment. After that I wasn’t afraid to call any company no matter the “size” or how well known they were to the public. I think the next day I started calling Sony, GoPro, and AutoZone.

AC: Before working at Lionbridge, what other jobs did you have?

From high school to college I had worked for a couple of Supermarkets in the produce department (Market Basket, Vons, and Trader Joes). After college I worked in Apple retail for almost two years and then decided that I was going to move from Boston, Ma to San Diego, CA. In California I was an Education Consultant and helped people find schools with the degree they wanted - over the phone. When I moved back from CA I found myself at Lionbridge.

AC: What are your long-term career goals and aspirations?

My long-term career goal is to get rich or die trying. I aspire to eventually be influential enough to change the world in a small way.

AC: What’s your claim to fame?

Contrary to the majority of the population, I enjoy public speaking or being “Put on the Spot.” I do better under pressure. When I am at social gatherings or nights out with friends I like to free-style rap for fun.
